Please utilize the PAX 2012 tab above to view some of the games we are highlighting!

Pax East 2012 in Boston. MA has the gamer/nerd world buzzing. Gamers wanted to get the first sneak peak of the newest games coming out, and thousands of gaming fans filed in and crammed the Boston Convention and Expo Center to quench their thirst for new games. Lining up at around 160 booths, gamers were given demos/hands-on play, information about the games presented, and even PAX East swag. While there are too many games to cover as of now, we will shed light to some of the more major titles and highly anticipated games for the rest of 2012.

The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition (360,PC)

CD Projekt RED brings The Witcher 2 (a title that has been out on PC for almost a year now) to the Xbox 360 on April 17th. The game will offer the original 40 hours of gameplay found on the PC version, as well as four extra hours of added gameplay. Those who are not familiar with the The Witcher series will be happy to know that there are short movies in the game explaining the original title’s background. The Witcher 2 will also offer new characters, quests, locations, and a half hour of new cinematics. It has been confirmed that players of the original PC version of The Witcher 2 will be able to upgrade to the Enhanced Edition free of charge at After listening to their fan base, the makers of Witcher 2 have decided to alter the 3rd act of the game. The developers of this game seem to care a great deal about their fan base, and that is what we love about CD Projekt RED. I would recommend pre-ordering this game if you haven’t done so already, time is running out so go get it.

Firefall (PC)

This title is a brand new IP coming out of Red 5 Studios, former of employees of Blizzard Entertainment who worked on World of Warcraft. This game is an MMO with  a large open world that reminds you of  Borderlands in its cartoon type style. At PAX East the studio announced that everywhere on the map is able to be explored and pushes players to take in the environments. There will be PvP (Player vs. Player) as well as the implementation of clans. Clans will be able to pick their paint scheme and tactics, think guilds from your typical MMOs. Working together as a team is also said to be rewarded with special abilities. Combat in Firefall is broken down into classes such as medic, engineer, recon, dreadnaught, and assault, if you choose a class and end up not liking it, don’t fret. There will be designated stations around the world that allow you to switch your class at anytime. For those who are not into the PvP, there will be PvE (Players vs, Environment) and mission type games. It is rumored that if certain missions go unchecked, it will leave a lasting effect on the world and limit your in game options and travel space. It will be interesting to see what the final product of this game will hold and it looks promising. I feel there is not enough information at this point to jump onto the band wagon so soon but hopefully we get a chance to hear a lot more on this title.

Xcom: Enemy Unknown (360,PS3,PC)

Not many will remember back to the PC game of 1994 (me included), but this is a resurrected remake of the series. The premise of this game is that the world is being taken over by an alien invasion, and you and your team must fight for Earth’s survival. The visuals of the game look unique, with the characters and base looking like something out of the 90’s or a top notch graphic novel. The game is a turn-based action/strategy, which I love. There will be ground combat as well as aerial assaults, pitting you against the alien threat. There is rumor that many aspects of the game will be customizable, including your home base and vehicles. This game really got my attention and I hope I will get to see more details about it soon. I would recommend giving this game a look if you are looking for something different or like turn based strategy titles.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be released Fall 2012 on 360, PS3, and PC. Pre-Order now at
